Prince Charles is engaged to marry Camilla Parker Bowles, a long-time friend of his, on 9th April this year.
The engagement was announced in February, and was postponed by 24 hours (it had been set for Friday, 8th April) because the prince is due to represent the Queen at the Pope's funeral, which takes place this Friday.

Public opinion is more likely to accept the marriage and support the Prince after the wedding. Still, some think that the disappointment the country felt over how late Princess Diana had been treated opened up a sense of disillusionment with Prince Charles. But despite public opinion, Camilla is probably the one Charles always wanted to have by his side, for theirs is a love that has endured - rightly and wrongly - for more than 30 years.

They first met in 1970 and dated for a time, but after the prince decided to concentrate on a naval career Camilla married. Their relationship was rekindled in 1986, with Princess Diana later complaining there were "three in the marriage". It was only after Diana's death in 1997 that their relationship became more widely accepted. They first appeared together for the cameras in 1999. Since then, they had been seen together in many different occasions, until the engagement was finally announced.

The Royal wedding will take place at Windsor Guildhall, followed by a dedication service inside the castle. This will be followed by a reception, which the couple intend to leave at around 1800 BST. The church blessing, in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and will be attended by the Queen.
