Professora Joyce Tuche

Getting to Know - Joyce tuche is the youngest teacher at our school. Let's get to know her ...
Full name:
Joyce Tuche Pereira do Amaral

When and where were you born?
I was born in RJ in 1985.

Where do you live?
In Irajá.

How and when did you start working at Cultura?
I sent my CV to one of my current bosses. I’ve been here since 2008.

What is it like to work here?
It’s just great! It’s a dream come true.

Have you ever been abroad?
Yes! I went to Buenos Aires with my uncle in 2003. Then, I went to England in 2007 with a lovely group of students (Cult Trip) and our outstading guides, Consuelo and Gerôncio. Finally, I went to England (again) and Scotland in 2009. This trip was the best ever!

What are your plans for the future?
I have so many plans lol but one of them is to start my Master’s in Applied Linguistics.

If you weren’t a teacher you’d be… a tour guide. Just love being with people.

Do you speak any other languages?
I do. A little Spanish.

What do you do in your spare time?
I usually surf the net and go out with my friends.

Radio or TV?
TV (Series)

Favourite actors or actresses:  Hugh Grant and Jennifer Aniston.

Favourite kind of music:
Pop and Religious.

Favourite singers:
At the moment Matt Wertz and Lifehouse. But I do love Celine Dion and the band The Cranberries.

Favourite dishes: Pancakes (salty), pizza and shrimp.

Favourite colour:  Purple

A remarkable book:  The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks.

If I won the lottery I’d buy… thousands of airline tickets to go abroad.

The best moment in my life was... when I travelled to England and fulfilled a dream.

And the worst moment was...
when a friend died.

I laugh when...
I watch ‘Friends’.

I cry when... I watch a sad film.

A song which reminds you of something very special...
‘Where you lead’ from the TV series ‘Girlmore Girls’.

Even if I were paid a million dollars I wouldn’t...
have an abortion.

I define myself as...hard-working and friendly.

My best quality is... being good-hearted.

And my worst quality is... being stubborn.

I clap hands for those who... are dedicated.

I can’t tolerate those who...
are two-faced or envious.

Day or night?
Day.

Teaching is enjoyable because...
it is about sharing at all times.

But teaching is sometimes stressing because... it is a lot of work.

If you had the opportunity to say something during a few minutes on TV worldwide, what would you say?
Why can’t we live in harmony?

Family...basis.

Life...
the greatest gift of God.

Death...awful but we have to accept it as part of life.

Money... important but not fundamental.

What would you  like to say to the CT readers ?
Never give up! English is part of everyone’s life nowadays and it is thrilling when you bump into a native speaker and you manage to communicate well. Keep on studying hard! Learning a foreign language can be a lot of fun.
